IK Multimedia iRig Mic Lav|Omnidirectional Condenser Lavalier Microphone for Phones, Tablets, and Computers
A plug-and-record lavalier microphone that makes mobile interviews and social media shooting more stable

The IK Multimedia iRig Mic Lav is a lavalier microphone from IK Multimedia. It features a condenser pickup design and omnidirectional polar pattern, with a 30 Hz to 16 kHz frequency response, 120 dB maximum SPL, and 3.5 mm TRRS connection. It is designed for mobile recording needs with smartphones, tablets, computers, and other compatible devices.
Compared with recording using a phone’s built-in microphone, the iRig Mic Lav captures sound close to the mouth through a wearable design, greatly reducing the sense of distance and background noise interference. Compared with similar entry-level mobile recording gear, its omnidirectional lavalier microphone design, plus a switchable monitoring / dual-mic daisy-chain TRRS port, makes it more practical for phone recording microphones, interview recording, and social video creation.

Who is the iRig Mic Lav for?
IK Multimedia iRig Mic Lav key technologies and features
- Omnidirectional condenser pickup design: Uses an omnidirectional condenser capsule structure that captures voice evenly from around the microphone, helping maintain clear vocal performance even if the wearer turns their head slightly.
- 30 Hz to 16 kHz frequency response: Covers the frequency range commonly used for voice recording, balancing low-end fullness and high-end clarity for interviews, narration, social video, and mobile podcast production.
- 120 dB maximum SPL: Offers enough headroom for louder voices or field environments, reducing the risk of distortion caused by sudden loud speech.
- 3.5 mm TRRS mobile connection: The TRRS connector allows direct connection to most phones, tablets, computers, and compatible devices that support headset input, enabling fast deployment and more efficient on-location shooting.
- Monitoring / dual-mic daisy-chain switching: A dedicated switch on the cable lets you toggle between monitoring and connecting a second microphone, so both solo recording and two-person interviews can be handled with the same system.
- Supports simultaneous two-person capture: Through the same 3.5 mm TRRS port, you can daisy-chain a second iRig Mic Lav, making it suitable for two-person conversations, street interviews, live-stream interviews, and similar scenarios.
- Real-time headphone monitoring: Not all mobile lavalier mics offer live monitoring. The iRig Mic Lav lets you connect headphones to check recording status in real time, helping you catch clipping, rustling, and ambient noise.
- Plug-and-play workflow: Works with any recording app that can receive audio from the device input, with no complicated setup required, making it especially friendly for beginners, content creators, and field interviewers.
- Lightweight lavalier structure: The microphone body measures approximately ø 7.4 x 24 mm and weighs about 22 g, so it is comfortable for long wear on a shirt, jacket lapel, or T-shirt.
- Mobile-creation-oriented accessory package: Includes a mounting clip and windscreen / pop filter foam, covering collar mounting and basic wind and plosive reduction needs for better on-location usability.
