Reason Studios Objekt Modeling Synthesizer|Next-generation physical modeling synthesizer, a truly playable sound-design tool
Objekt is a physical modeling synthesizer Rack Extension from Reason Studios, designed to create playable, richly textured modern sounds. Centered on "material + excitation + resonance," it can precisely sculpt everything from analog-like plucked and struck sounds to unheard experimental textures, and perform reliably on stage and in mixes.
Key Features
- Physical modeling sound engine: constructs the core of the sound using parameters like material, size, tension, and damping — no sample limitations.
- Multiple resonator models (strings, plates, bars, membranes, etc.) that can be shaped individually or in series/parallel, enabling design of both realistic and surreal timbres.
- Various exciters (pluck, strike, friction/bow, airflow/noise) and strike-position control for detailed reproduction of playing technique.
- Advanced modulation architecture: envelopes and LFOs, plus a parameter routing matrix to easily create dynamic, lifelike sounds.
- Performance-oriented controls: velocity, glide, pedals, aftertouch, and other expression mappings for live real-time changes and DAW-friendly automation.
- Deep integration with Reason Rack: CV/Gate, audio routing, Combinator 2 macro controls and labeling for quickly building repeatable sound workflows.
- Extensive professional preset library covering percussive, plucked, hybrid instruments, pads, and soundscapes — ready to use out of the box.
- Efficient processing and precise parameter scaling, suitable for large projects and complex dynamic designs.
System Requirements
- Platform: Rack Extension device within the Reason environment (including Reason Rack).
- Version: Reason 12 or later required for full use and the visual workflow.
- Operating system: macOS and Windows 64-bit systems (refer to the official requirements for the Reason version you have installed).
- Installation and authorization: download and install via your Reason Studios account and installer; activation is required to use.
- Note: Objekt is a Rack Extension and must run inside Reason or the Reason Rack Plugin.
Plugin Formats
- Use in your DAW via the Reason Rack Plugin: VST3, AU, AAX
Supported Applications and Workflow Integration
Objekt can be used in the standalone Reason or integrated into major DAWs via the Reason Rack Plugin, including Ableton Live, Logic Pro, Pro Tools, Cubase, Studio One, FL Studio, and more. Key parameters can be mapped to Combinator 2 macro controls for real-time performance with hardware controllers and recording automation; in production and mixing workflows it can also be combined with DAW markers and preset management to create reproducible sound iterations and collaborative workflows, suitable for traditional composition and AI-assisted sound exploration processes.
